On a rainy Saturday, Deerfield continued its travels by heading to Concord, NH to play St. Paul’s and came away with a 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-17, 25-17).
Without a couple of players due to them taking the SATs, Deerfield initially struggled to get into a rhythm against the Big Red serve before Sabina Frosk ‘24 and Zoe Galaburda ‘26 started to provide the passing throughout the match that allowed Deerfield’s offense to get going. Strong serves from Greta Trapp ‘25, Evie Mokarow ‘24, Evelyn Kunde ‘26, and Frosk gave St. Paul’s difficulties. Particularly in the 2nd and 3rd sets, setters Charlotte Coody ‘26 and Trapp were able to connect with middles Sophie Kamil ‘26 and Harmoni Dobbins ‘26 for some excellent attacks. Georgia Ball ‘25 and Margot McAuliffe ‘24 provided effective outlet options on the right-side and got good kills while Mokarow and Kunde put the ball down from the outside. It was a well-rounded effort from the entire Deerfield squad against a St. Paul’s team that kept pushing and extending rallies.
Thanks to St. Paul’s for hosting.
Our away matches continue Saturday in New Haven, CT against Hopkins School with first serve scheduled for 3pm.
