Playing at home on an unseasonably warm and sunny late October day, Deerfield was able to defeat Andover, 3-0.
Deerfield got out right away to a lead that they proceeded to extend throughout the first set. Particular shout-outs to right-sides Georgia Ball ‘25 and Margot McAuliffe ‘24 for putting up good blocks and well-placed hits and to outside hitters Evie Mokarow ‘24 and Evelyn Kunde ‘26 for their excellent attacks. Deerfield took the first set, 25-14.
In the second set, Deerfield setters Greta Trapp ‘25 and Charlotte Coody ‘26 continued to do an excellent job distributing the ball to hitters. That type of offense was made possible by strong serve receive and defensive passing from Sabina Frosk ‘24, Emily Rice ‘24, and Loran McGruder ‘24. Andover’s defense kept extending rallies and challenging Deerfield, but the Big Green was able to match them and take the set, 25-15.
In the third set, middle hitters Harmoni Dobbins ‘26 and Sophie Kamil ‘26 continued to put up good blocks and generate their own offense in the middle. Zoe Galaburda ‘26 stepped in to play defense and Deerfield was able to close out the match, 25-10.
Thank you to Andover for making the trip to play today.
Deerfield hosts its annual youth volleyball clinic on Monday. Then we head out for our final road game of the regular season on Saturday against Taft with first serve at 3:30pm against the Rhinos.
