This weekend, Deerfield Boys JV Soccer took down the team from St. Paul’s on their home field in Concord with a 2-0 victory. We kept a clean sheet during the first half thanks to stalwart defensive play from Jason Bannerman ’24, but could not capitalize on any scoring chances. Jack Borg ‘27 nearly had our first goal, but his driving shot bounced off the left post. Oscar Sanford ‘26 took a chance from the left wing midway through the second half that Kevin Gonzalez ‘24 put in off the rebound. Cai Harrison ’25 scored when he got his foot on a ball played in from the corner that then deflected off the knee of a St. Paul’s player and into the goal. Walker Naughton ‘25 played nearly the whole game in the midfield and did a great job dictating the direction of play. We were pleased with our ability to control possession and create chances all day, unflapped by the long bus ride and rainy conditions.
