The boys junior B footballers put on quite a show for Fall Family Weekend, despite the wet weather, beating local rival Eaglebrook 6-0 to raise their record to 5-0 on the season. Deerfield were led by Cole Higgins ’26, who scored a hat trick, and keeper Arvin Mou ’25, who recorded his second clean sheet of the season. Just like against Avon, the scoring started just a few minutes into the game. Jack Keller ’26 found the corner of the net on what was arguably a cross instead in the 3rd minute to get Deerfield off to a good start. Only two minutes later, Higgins scored the first of his goals to double the lead in the 5th minute. Although it looked like Deerfield would run away with the game, the teams were relatively even for the next 25 minutes. With just a few moments left in the 1st half, however, Higgins struck again with a critical goal to give Deerfield a 3-goal lead at half-time. In the 2nd half, Higgins picked up right where he had left off, heading home a Vail Brokaw ’27 cross in the 31st minute to complete the hat trick and give Deerfield a 4-0 lead. In the 40th minute, Brokaw was taken down in the box to earn a penalty kick, but his solid drive was saved by the keeper and Deerfield were unable to get to the rebound. In the 47th minute, Emmet Aho ’27 scored his first goal of the season from a Keller cross to make the lead 5-0. After being held goalless since the first game of the season, Brokaw finally found the back of the net in the 55th minute to end the scoring. After the fall break, Quad Squad will face Suffield Academy on the lower fields on October 25th, with a 3 pm kickoff.
