Deerfield resumed its season with a contest against Williston’s JV B team on a warm and buggy afternoon down in Easthampton on Wednesday. Captain Sammy Sullivan ’25 got the scoring started with a successful PK to bottom right in the ninth minute after attacking midfielder Jack Webb ’27 got fouled in the box. Striker Victor Kibuuka ’26 increased DA’s lead later in the first half scoring after a great assist from rookie Jeremy Tadesse ’26, who was returning to the team after being sidelined with an injury for several games. In the second half, Williston’s big, up-the-middle offense broke through to tie the game by 45’. Despite giving themselves several good opportunities, Deerfield’s offense couldn’t get the winning goal across. With seconds to play, winger Jack Wagner ’26 was tackled in the box but didn’t get the call in this coach-reffed game. While Deerfield won’t get a rematch against this squad, we will face Williston’s JV A team at home on Saturday, November 4. But next on the calendar is the home matchup against Andover this Saturday.
