The Deerfield cross country team faced perhaps its most formidable opponent of the season this Saturday: the Standard Aptitude Test. Half the team stayed on campus to fill in tiny circles with their no. 2 pencils while the other half of the roster traveled to Concord, NH to race against the Pelicans of St. Paul’s School. The Doors raced hard and managed to win the junior varsity contest by a narrow margin, but faltered at the varsity level despite outstanding tactical racing from Max Wang ’25 and Robbie Hua ’24, who finished the race in first and second respectively. The Deerfield harriers will race next weekend against the infamous Boars of Choate and the southern Pelicans from Loomis Chaffee on this year’s championship course at Loomis.
