While the Deerfield JV Swim crew didn’t come out on top in their season-opener against Suffield, they still left the meet feeling proud of a number of personal and team triumphs. Some highlights from the day include first-year Melody Zhao’s first place finish in the 100 yard Breaststroke and junior Miu Yatsuka’s second place finishes in both the 100 Yard IM and 50 Yard Butterfly. Zhao, Yatsuka, Teagan Farley ‘26, and Daisy Fichthorn ‘23 also had an exciting second place finish in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. This meet’s story was really one of improvement, however, as the team swam 11 personal best times! We were also excited to cheer on Vivian Gonzalez ‘26 as she swam the 50 yard Freestyle in her first ever meet. Outside of the pool, Deerfield demonstrated tremendous enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and support for one another. Our next meet is at Eaglebrook on January 18th.
