Deerfield’s JV swim team came away with a win against both Bancroft and Eagle Hill on this sunny Saturday morning. Despite two weeks of long, grueling practices and a handful of sick swimmers, DA still managed to swim 19 personal best times and had 13 first or second place finishes on the day. Teagan Farley ‘26, Melody Zhao ‘26, Daisy Fichthorn ‘23, and Miu Yatsuka ‘24 won first place in the 200 Medley Relay and then swam another first place finish in the 400 Free Relay to end the meet. Individually, Ella Hynds ‘23 took second place in the 100 yard backstroke. Elizabeth Richards ‘24 had two second place finishes, one in the 200 yard freestyle and the other in the 100 yard breaststroke. Teagan Farley ‘26 won first in the 100 yard backstroke and Evan Xie ‘25 took first in the 50 yard freestyle. Miu Yatsuka ‘24 had two first place finishes in the 100 yard IM and the 50 yard butterfly. The star of the meet, however, was Melody Zhao ‘26 who took first place in the 100 yard breaststroke and second place in the 500 yard freestyle, despite it being her first time swimming the event at Deerfield. Divers Tyler Ettelson ‘23 and Blix Salz ‘24 joined us for the first time this season! They had a solid showing, also contributing to the win. Now onto the next meet! We’ll be swimming against Suffield again this Wednesday at home.
