Today the Girls JV Basketball team rolled to Exeter, NH to compete against Exeter’s undefeated JV team. The game started off quickly with Exeter scoring in the first minute. Sally Rolland ’23 immediately tied and then Eleanor DuPont ’26 followed by scoring three buckets. The first two periods were tied until we got the lead when Izzy Ramirez ’25 scored a 3-pointer in the third period. We had amazing shots from Fiona Van Nice ’25, Nainika Lebaka ’24. Eleanor duPont ’26 always shot or drove when she got the ball and scored an impressive total 17 points. Deerfield’s defensive efforts were led by Jasmine Irizarry ’23 who contributed a lot of passing and was outstanding on the court. Using great rebounding, defense, and active communication, it was a very close back-and-forth game until the fourth quarter when Exeter scored 11 points compared to our 6. Although we ended 26-31, we were only down by 5 points. We are looking forward to our next game on Wednesday, when the JV Girls take on the Williston Wildcats down south in Easthampton, MA!
