The boys thirds basketball team had four good days of practice before hosting our first game since returning from the winter break. We faced a young but skilled Eaglebrook team. The first half showed both teams to be a little rusty from the break, especially on the offensive end and the score at the end of the half was 6-14. We were able to whittle away at their lead in the second half and with about 6 minutes to go we got within three points but were never able to get closer. Eaglebrook played more consistently in the end and won 29-38. Ephraim Tutu ’24 led our scoring with 11 points. Tucker Gongaware ’26 and Victor Kibuuka ’26 both kicked in 6 points apiece. Jesse Gachago ’26 got his first start of the year and played well on both sides of the floor. Most notably, Jesse drew a great charge in the first half which really helped to inspire our defense. Jasper Sammon ’25 also played well in his first game for us this season. Jasper played with great intensity and aggressiveness and we expect to see a lot more good things from him as the season progresses. While it was disappointing to come so close to a win but not pull it off, we played with intensity and learned a lot. We look forward to getting back to the practice floor on Monday and preparing for the real heart of the season, starting with a trip to Avon Old Farms on Wednesday.
