Taft and Deerfield played very similar styles: quick passing on the ground, speedy wingers, and well positioned defense. They executed better than we did right out of the gates, scoring two nice goals before halftime. Down 2-0, we tried several new combinations in the second half, leading to some decent chances but no goals. Our midfield and defense learned to respond to pressure with pressure of their own, rather than waiting on our heels a bit too much, and allowed no goals in the second half. We were missing several players due to injury and we saw several players step up nicely, including Henry Shearer and Francis Andersons. Keeper Joe Berman also played a strong second half, coming off his line particularly well. We are learning and we have more growth to come!
