Event Details

On Saturday, September 24th, the boys junior B footballers hit the road for a 3:30 kickoff in Avon, CT against Avon Old Farms. In a back and forth affair, with neither team able to establish a significant advantage in shots or possession, Deerfield were able to break a scoreless tie late with a beautiful goal to win the match 1-0. While he wasn’t tested very often, keeper Brendan Butz ’23 made a great diving save in the 22nd minute to keep the score tied and eventually earn his second clean sheet of the season. The teams went into half-time still tied at 0 with only a handful of chances in a tight defensive match. In the 56th minute, Deerfield finally took the lead on a direct free kick just outside the AOF 18 yard box. Michael Clifford-Levy ’26 sent a beautiful, curving drive towards the back post, where Matias Cushman ’25 was waiting to drive it home with a powerful header. Quad squad will be back in action on September 28th, with a 3:45 match on the road at the Eaglebrook School.
