Deerfield hosted Choate on a chilly Saturday afternoon match full of competitive tennis on every single court. The boys from Wallingford came out on top, sparked by their ability to come back in the doubles matches and win close matches on courts one and three. Jimmy Ueland and Brick Johnson dropped a tough match in a tiebreaker as they could not make good on a 7-4 lead. The doubles on court three was a spirited battle, but our guys came up just a bit short in the end, losing in a tiebreaker.
The singles side offered more of the same, Deerfield secured victories as Max Peh and Ethan Li won in straight sets on courts three and five respectively. Jimmy Ueland and Brick Johnson fought hard against two tough opponents on courts one and two, but it wasn’t enough in the end. Blix Salz fought back after going down a set early and Tom Molson played another match tie-breaker, both matches didn’t go our way, though our players never gave up in any of their matches.
