The Deerfield boys JV tennis team wrapped up their season with a record of 4-5 after defeating the Bement School 7-2 at home on May 18th. The last scheduled game against the Eaglebrook School was initially rained out and then canceled entirely, so the Bement match ended up being the final match of the season. Deerfield got off to a strong start, winning all 3 doubles matches, therefore needing to win only two out of the six singles matches to win the overall match.
#1 doubles Ryan Diffley ‘25/Matias Cushman ’25 – 8-0
#2 doubles Alex Ayres ‘24/Nikhil Lebaka ’24 – 8-6
#3 doubles Andy Chen ‘25/Theo Lewis ’24 – 8-0
Despite losing at both #1 and #2 singles, Deerfield won the other four singles matches, many tightly contested, to wrap up the overall match, 7-2.
#1 singles Cushman – 2-8
#2 singles Ayres – 1-8
#3 singles Lebaka 8-6
#4 singles Eddy Rena ’24 – 8-6
#5 singles Preyas Sinha ’24 – 8-6
#6 singles Chen – 8-5
With only one senior leaving the team, the future looks bright for the boys JV tennis team. Thanks for a great season everyone – we look forward to seeing you next season!
