Our game against Williston’s Boys Varsity Ultimate was our most spirited and comprehensive game yet! The wind was sometimes as strong as 20+ mph, but our athletes were prepared both for Mother Nature and for the height-advantage of our competitors. Early in the game, William Abou-Rjaili ’22 executed a terrific fake and a goal-setting pass to Forrest Gao ’23. Captain Jerry Huang ’23 threw a beautiful long pass to William for our second goal, and Captain Sunshine Chen ’23 made a smart move late in the first half to deliver our third goal-setting pass, again to William. Our final goal of the day proved, through Jerry Huang’s assist to Jerry Yuan ’22, what we have known all season: that two Jerrys are better than one!
Coaches were particularly pleased with the team’s strong defense and awesome team culture. Our athletes acknowledged minor game errors, but they remained positive and focused their energy on making strong improvements mid-game. Our captains were model leaders in this game, too. Finally, cutter Anna Pikarska ’22 embodied the drive and energy we love to see. She played her heart out when she was on the field, and when she was on the sideline, she jumped at the chance to go back in. Congratulations to all on a strong showing against Williston!
