The Deerfield boys varsity team opened their season with a strong performance at the 5oth iteration of the Kingswood-Oxford tournament. The tournament began with the doubles rounds, senior Jimmy Ueland and sophomore Tom Molson dropped the opening match in straight sets to a hard-serving and solid backcourt team from KO. The number two doubles team of sophomore Max Peh and freshman Ethan Li, earned a straight sets victory over a talented team from Choate. The second round of doubles provided inverse results as Tom and Jimmy found victory and Max and Ethan lost to a formidable opponent duo from Hotchkiss.
The first round of singles proved a different story as the Deerfield boys won every match they played. The victories did not come easily, Jimmy Euland and Blix Salz both split sets to find victory in match tie-breakers. Max Peh and Ethan Li played extremely smart tennis, both earning victories in straight sets. Overall, day one of the tournament was a successful start to the season, as the players tallied a six victories and two losses overall
