Deerfield overcame a 3-0 deficit to beat a tough Williston team at home on Saturday. The Williston bats were hot early, and they had base hits and runners on the bags almost every inning. Williston snuck one run across in the 4th on a perfectly executed bunt play, and added a pair of runs in the top of the 5th. In the bottom of the 5th inning, Kelly Howe roped a two-out double and Lauren Sobczak scored on the hit. Lauryn Broecker followed with a double of her own, scoring Howe on the play. Haley Abraham belted a triple, her second hit of the day, and scored on a wild throw to bring the Doors up 4-3. Deerfield played two solid innings of defense to finish the game.
Lauryn Broecker was given the game ball in recognition of her exceptional play at 3rd base. The Doors head north to NMH on Monday for their next game.
