The Deerfield girls’ rowing team traveled to Woodstock, CT to compete against Pomfret School, Groton, Dexter-Southfield and Taft on Quasset Lake. Throughout the afternoon, there was a variable, at times strong, headwind. Fortunately the water remained rowable and the DA crews handled these slightly adverse conditions well. A big thanks to the host school, Pomfret, for organizing this regatta and to the other schools for providing excellent racing!

The girls’ first boat of coxswain Ashley LaBrucherie ‘23, co-captain Lila Nottage ‘22, Rachel Mark ‘23, Natalie Meyer ‘23, and Larrabee Pollack ‘23 needed a strong second half of their race to come back into fast starting crews from Groton and Taft. In the first 500m, DA had a narrow lead but maintained overlap with both Groton and Taft, who proved to be fairly even speed. Through the middle 500m, the girls from Deerfield showed their strength and began to pull away from their competitors. This continued into the closing portions of the race. DA crossed the finish line in 6:09.6, rowing to a 19 second victory over second place Taft, third place Groton, followed by Dexter-Southfield and Pomfret.
