Deerfield fell to Worcester Academy 7-6 in 9 innings to drop to 1-1 in league play. Worcester had a 3-1 lead to start the 6th inning when Ben Martino hit a 2 out 2 RBI single to centerfield to tie the game 3-3. After a scoreless 7th inning, Deerfield took a 5-3 lead in the top half of the 8th only to see Worcester tie it at 5 at the end of the 8th. Deerfield scored another run in the top of the 9th but Worcester scored the game winner on a bases loaded walk in the bottom half of the 9th. Billy Mrowka, Tynan Creagh and Geoff Jamiel each had multi hit games for Deerfield. SP Ryan McHugh had another strong outing where he pitched 7 innings and allowed 3 ER, 6 Hits and 8 K’s.
