Deerfield fell to Belmont Hill by a score of 3-2 in the opening game of the 2022 season. Belmont Hill scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning and then scored the walk off run in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs. SP Ryan McHugh was excellent all afternoon. He pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed just 1 ER on 3 hits and 4 BB. The Deerfield lineup racked up 9 hits but could only score 2 runs. They had bases loaded with no outs in the top of the 5th inning and failed to score any runs. Connor Moriarty, Billy Mrowka, and Gavin Rigney each had 2 hits. Geoffrey Jamiel and Ben Martino had an RBI apiece for the Big Green.
