In the semi-finals of the Large School tournament, Deerfield faced off against Governor’s Academy. Mia Goetzke ‘24 opened the scoring in the first period, off of assists from Sara Robert ‘22 and Emma Gurnell ‘22, but Governor’s found the equalizer in the second frame. The third period was by far our best of the game, as we finally found our groove and started to dominate in all three zones. After Jackson Kinsler ‘22 drew a penalty late in the third, Annie Dinges ‘24 scored the game winning goal with less than 30 seconds to go (assists to CC Deslauriers ‘23 and Gurnell). Grace Caligiuri ‘22 was once again excellent in goal, and Bailey Miller ‘24 earned the hard hat for her resilience and effort all over the ice. This team continues to push through illness and a short bench, and looks forward to the opportunity to compete for a championship at home on Sunday afternoon. With the school on Spring Break, we really appreciated the support of families, faculty and day students today!
