The Girls JV Squash team travelled to Williston today to compete in our first match in February. The girls fought hard to earn their 4-3 win. Playing in the #1 spot today, Valentina Williamson fought hard in the first game, dropping it 9-11; her opponent’s serves served as a challenge, but Valentina did not give up in the following two games. Marnie Todd (#2) dropped her first game but came roaring back to win her second game 14-12, coming back from a 10-4 deficit; she soundly defeated her opponent in her next two games. #3 Stella Fierro pushed her opponent, and she stepped her game up in the second and third matches, where she came within striking distance of her opponent (9-11 in both games). #4 Avery Brooker also seemed to get dialed in in the second and third games, where she almost came out victorious (8-11 and 9-11 during the second and third games, respectively). #5 Kaitlyn Kelly defeated her opponent in three matches and showcased her stronger back-hand that she had been working on during practice. #6 Emi Takegami won the first two games before dropping the third; however, her determination carried her to victory in the fourth game, where she won 11-9. #7 Abby Morsman represented us well by having a dominant showing, soundly defeating her opponent in three games (11-3, 11-4, and 11-4). We look forward to hosting Miss Porter’s School after Long Winter Weekend!
