For our final away game, the Girls JV Squash team traveled to Loomis, our second time playing against this team. The late, 4:30 start time did not hamper our ability to play some strong squash, as we defeated Loomis 6-1. #1 Zeyna Ilahi represented us well at the top of the ladder, winning her match in three games; #2 Olivia Waterfall also played a strong match, defeating her opponent in three games, which included a 12-10 win in the first game. #3 Caroline Hoff played hard to smoothly win her match in three games, while #4 Valentina Williamson persevered in game 2, allowing her to comfortably win in three games. Cheered on by her team-mates, #5 Marnie Todd used her strong serves and boasts to win her match in three games, and #6 Stella Fierro fought hard throughout her five game match, ultimately dropping it against a hard-hitting opponent. #7 Avery Brooker played well, staving off a few last minute surges by her opponent to win in five games.
The girls also played well in the exhibition matches. #8 Grace Honos pushed her opponent to five games, forcing her to earn the win. #9 Emi Takegami fought hard in game one to come back and win 13-11, the first of two consecutive wins. #10 Kaitlyn Kelly, who picked up her squash racquet after a week-long hiatus, also defeated her opponent with two consecutive wins. #11 Abby Morsman pulled ahead from her opponent in each of her two games, smoothly winning her match.
We look forward to hosting Choate on Wednesday and playing some “in-house” games with/against the Thirds teams and the Boys JV team!
