Despite lots of time spent in the offensive zone, Deerfield Girls Varsity hockey settled for a 2-2 tie against visiting Winchendon at home on Wednesday afternoon. We took a 2-0 lead in the first period, with Lauryn Broecker ’23 scoring both goals (the first off of assists from Jackson Kinsler ’22 and Bliss Vernon ’22, and the second off a beautiful pass from Kelly Howe ’22). Unfortunately, we couldn’t hold the lead, and we’ll look for better grit and resilience when we return from Long Winter Weekend. Bliss Vernon ’22 earned the hard hat for modeling what it looks like to compete hard and put your team first.
