On February 9th, the boy’s thirds basketball team travelled to nearby Easthampton, Mass to face the Williston Northampton School for a 4:30 tip. After playing a solid 1st half, the team came out flat in the 2nd to drop a 47-24 decision. With the loss, the team’s record now stands at 2-6. Midway through the 1st half, WNS were up 18-6 and it looked like the game might slip away early. Deerfield rallied, though, and ended the half on an 11-0 run to pull within 1 at half-time. Lock Grigsby ’25 scored 6 of his game-high 11 points in the 1st half to key the comeback. Unfortunately, the 2nd half was a much different story, with WNS starting the half on a 27-3 run to put the game out of reach. Deerfield had too many possessions that ended in turnovers and were only able to get off 15 shots in the 2nd half, hitting only 4 of them. The team will look to even the season series against Suffield Academy at home in the Hale Gym on February 12th, with a 2:30 tipoff.
