On February 26th, the boy’s thirds team wrapped up their season with a 3 pm game at the Hale Gym against the Westminster School. The team picked an opportune time to break out of their shooting slump, snapping their 7-game losing streak by beating Westy 64-41. With the win, the team’s record ends at 3-10 for the season. The 64 points represented their highest output of the season, aided by shooting nearly 50% from the field from 2 and 33% from 3 – a significant upgrade from their average. Deerfield took a game that was tight at half-time, 23-18, and exploded in the 2nd half, scoring 41 points – a total that surpassed their output for many of the full games. The scoring was surprisingly balanced, with only one player – Justin Ahn ’24 – in double figures, with 10 points. Jonny Scagel ’25, Ephraim Tutu ’24, and Hawk Okpokwasili ’25 all contributed 8 points, while Cairon Harrison ’25 scored 7 and Brendan Butz ’23 and MacGregor Hynds ’25 each scored 6.
