Deerfield played well in front of a big crowd at home on Friday night, skating away with a 5-0 win. Emma Gurnell ‘22 opened the scoring on the power play, banging home a rebound from an Annie Dinges ‘24 shot. We scored two more goals in the second period, the first from Mia Goetzke ‘24 (off of a tip from a Bailey Miller ‘24 shot) and the second from Lauryn Broecker ‘23 (finishing off a great play from Gurnell and Dinges). In the third, Jackson Kinsler ‘22 scored a beautiful goal early on (assist to Sara Robert ‘22), and then Bliss Vernon ‘22 rounded out the scoring (assist to Kinsler). Lauren Sobzcak ‘24 earned her first career Deerfield shutout, and Grace Dumond ‘22 was the hard hat recipient for her consistent energy all game long.
