Deerfield Girls Hockey opened the Cushing tournament with a 4-2 against Millbrook. We came out flying in the first period, and scored two goals off of beautiful puck movement. First, Lauryn Broecker ‘23 converted a beautiful feed from Izzy Cericola ‘24 (Gia Thompson ‘26 also got an assist) and then Thompson scored the first goal of her Deerfield career off of passes from Broecker and Keira Austen ‘26. We got away from our systems in the second period and Millbrook was able to tie the game, but Broecker scored again (assist to Bailey Miller ‘24) and Annie Dinges ‘24 added an insurance goal (assists to Sam Olander ‘23 and Mia Goetzke ‘24) to give us the victory. Campbell Krotee ‘25 got the win in goal, and Thompson earned the hard hat for her hustle and puck support. We’ll play two games tomorrow, starting with Worcester Academy at 1:30pm. Special thanks to the Dinges family for picking up the post game meal!
