Boys JV hockey opened their home season on Friday with a 6-2 win over visiting Selwyn House School from Montreal Quebec. After a long bus ride into the States the Selwyn House team took to the ice and started their road trip with a solid 1st period performance. After one period the visitors led 1-0. The second period would be a different story however as Big Green started to get their offense in sync. In the second half of the 2nd period Deerfield scored 3 times, one each from Felix Rockefeller, Jack Gammage, and Billy Weller.
With a 3-1 lead after two periods Deerfield kept the pressure up in the last period. Both Billy and Felix would find the back of the net again. Leo Ma rounded out the scoring with his goal with under a minute and a half to play in the game.
Good credit goes to Will Scharfenberger for his solid play in the net coming back from illness just days earlier in the week.
Deerfield would like to thank the Selwyn House team, coaches, athletic trainer and parents for making the long trip to Deerfield. We appreciated the good sportsmanship and high compete level from their team!
Next up is a game with our rival Choate on Saturday. The game begins at 1:00 p.m. down in Wallingford CT.
