Choate L 2-3 (25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 22-25, 14-16)
Deerfield competed valiantly against an excellent Choate team in the final game of the season. The Doors took an early 2-0 lead, but the Boars fought back to even the score at 2-2 and force a fifth and final set. Deerfield defended well and attacked aggressively at the net; many rallies were saved and extended thanks to Deerfield players’ athletic, one-handed diving saves. Middle hitter Olivia Smit ’23 led the team with six aces and eight kills. Senior libero Lucy Guo played exceptionally well in the back row and passed effectively throughout the match. Outside hitter Georgia Ball ’25 had seven kills and four aces, and senior middle hitters Koko Akpan and Simisola Lawal netted four and five kills respectively. Alice Wu ’25 also contributed to the Doors’ attack with three kills and an ace. The team’s four setters—Megan Ng ’23, Alex Kelsey ’23, Allie Kostiuk ’25, and Julia Zaho ’24—all played very well throughout the 2+ hour match.
