We took down the boars on a soggy pitch at Choate at 10:30 in the morning. We got on the bus at 8am and came out firing after a quick warmup. In the 6th minute, Yesung Lam sent Jack Willett down the right wing who placed a perfect cut back cross on the ground to Winston Cho who fired it home. The field had standing puddles and players from both squads were slipping and sliding. Our back line, anchored today by Jason Bannerman, Ari Santos, Kevin Gonzalez, Kiefer Ebling, and MacGregor Hynds, played another outstanding game of balance and assertive interruption, preventing Choate from mounting any real attack. The score was 1-0 at halftime and stayed that way until Jack Willett scored on a rebound from a shot by Winston Cho with about ten minutes to go. The bench went bonkers for our senior co-captain. Choate scored with about a minute left and we killed the remaining minute without drama. Good thing we added that insurance goal! This win was an excellent response to losses we suffered on the road earlier this season. It was especially nice to end this superb season with a victory against our rivals on Choate Day. Special thanks to seniors Jack Willett, Francis Andersons, Keeper Bob Zhang, and Oscar Patton. This team came together very nicely down the stretch and has represented Deerfield well with top notch sportsmanship. Looking forward to next season!
