Deerfield defeated Cheshire Academy by a score of 21-20 to win their final home game of the season. WR Tristan Ward scored the go ahead touchdown on a pass from QB Cole Geer with under 3 minutes left in the game. Cheshire got the ball back and drove the length of the field, converted 2 4th downs, and scored a touchdown with 7 seconds left in the game. Cheshire decided to go for the 2pt conversion and the win but fumbled the snap and Deerfield tackled the QB in the backfield to secure the 1 point victory. Along with 2 receiving touchdowns, Ward also had an interception in the 3rd quarter, his first of the year. OLB James Fealy forced and recovered a fumble on the first play of the 4th quarter. Both turnovers led to Deerfield touchdowns. TE Willem Thurber made multiple catches and scored the first touchdown of the game for Deerfield in the 3rd quarter. Deerfield finishes up the season at Choate next Saturday at 12pm.
