On a clear and chilly Wednesday, after a week and a half of rest, Deerfield’s JV Field Hockey pulled out a 3-0 win against Williston. Because of Williston’s small squad, the game was played seven-to-a-side, a new configuration and style of game play to the Deerfield girls. The team took the challenge by storm, generating a number of scoring opportunities in the first quarter, but ultimately coming up scoreless. In the second quarter, the ball finally found the back of the cage with a goal from Josephine Cramer ‘24, assisted by Elizabeth Kelly ‘25. In the second half, Deerfield scored twice more, one by Melinda Aznar Klein ‘25 off the rebound of a shot by Linnea Dreslin ‘24, and the other by Avery Zakowich ‘25, assisted by Charlotte Steffensen ‘25. The team was excited to celebrate not only the win today, but also our sole senior Ashley LaBrucherie’s final home game at Deerfield. Ashley has been a spunky, dedicated, and thoughtful leader as well as a fearless goalie for the team all season. We’re excited to watch her and the rest of the team play Choate in our final game of the season this Saturday.
