On a gloomy Wednesday afternoon, the Big Green hosted neighbor Williston in a Western New England Soccer league match-up. The Big Green dominated the early possession of the game however, the goal remained elusive as the Williston goalkeeper made some outstanding high ball saves. With a few minutes remaining in the first half of play, the Williston Wildcats capitalized on a defensive breakdown by the Big Green in their defensive third and capitalized with the first goal of the game. The Big Green rallied at half-time and returned to the field in the second half with conviction to score. Again, controlling the tempo of the game and the possession, the Big Green continue to create chances, but could not net a goal of their own until, Alex Hersmdorf ’25 beat her defender on the right side of the field and broke into the 18 and ripped a shot to the upper 90 corner of the far post, finally beating the Williston goalkeeper. The score remained level 1-1 at the final whistle. The Big Green return to action on Saturday when they host St. Paul’s.
