Deerfield earned a well-deserved and impressive 4-0 win against a tough and well-coached Kent squad. The game was back and forth for the first 12 minutes until Deerfield broke through with a goal from Kass Gifford off a beautiful through ball behind the defense from Edo Ferrari. Edo and Kass have really found their rhythm together as the two strikers for Deerfield. Ten minutes later, Deerfield would strike again on a seeing-eye cross from Gavin Rigney that found Jarvis Shema on the back post. Jarvis wasted no time and finished in the side netting with his first touch. The next 50 minutes or so saw great play and chances from both sides until Deerfield found the net again in the 80th minute. Jarvis Shema once again factored in as he broke in on the left side of the box and was taken down, drawing a penalty kick. Edo Ferrari stepped up and calmly buried the PK in the right side netting, giving Deerfield a commanding 3-0 lead with ten minutes left. Deerfield would add an insurance goal two minutes later on a well-constructed play from Ocean Feng and Jarvis Shema, leading to a partial breakaway for Ian Choi. Ian attacked the goal with pace and was able to beat his defender on the left side for a beautiful left-footed finish. It was the icing on the cake for what was a full team effort from Deerfield, and everyone contributed in a meaningful way. Deerfield looks to keep the momentum going against an excellent Berkshire team on Wednesday.
