We took the field at Westy in a new 3-5-2 shape, which the players proposed earlier this week. We were a little sloppy in the first half with our passing and gave up an early goal. We regrouped down 0-1 at halftime with a commitment to better and more positive communication, which sustained us in the second half. Early on, Jakub Kohn struck a pure left foot to the near post after a wonderful pass from Diego Soto Lopez. And once we equalized, we were much more poised and team-oriented with our passing as we brought wave after wave of pressure. On a throw-in from the deep right side, Oscar Patton skipped a header toward the box where Jakub Kohn was waiting. Jakub struck the bouncing ball at about knee height and sent a hard, curling shot to the far left corner, for his second goal of the half. With a 2-1 lead at about 10 minutes to go, we sent on fresh legs to defend the rest of the way. The defense and keepers kept a clean sheet for the final 70 minutes today. This was a solid team effort and a well-earned win.
