We traveled a long way to Exeter and lost 5-2. The “good” news is that we were down 4-0 at halftime and won the second half 2-1. Keeper Bob Zhang also reported that one of their goals should not have counted as the ball was kicked from his hand and another should have been stopped. So it was a closer match than the score suggested. Still, we were caught chasing two through balls and were beat by a cut-back cross from the endline that bounced too easily through our box. On the other hand, once we took control of the midfield, we generated turnovers and counter-attacks which we converted twice. With the momentum in our favor, we got the score to 4-2 and it looked promising, but alas we couldn’t find the net again. This was a tough first half for us, after a long ride and shortened warm up, and we have to take it to heart and open the upcoming games with more positive energy and commitment, especially if our opponent scores first.
