Deerfield hosted a strong NMH team on Wednesday. The play was back and forth and NMH went up 1-0 at the start of the second quarter. However, within a few minutes of play, Sage Piekarski ’23 tied the game up for Deerfield after she converted on a nice shot from the top of the circle. Piekarski added another tally before the end of the half. Despite various corner opportunities, NMH and Deerfield were scoreless in the third, but Piekarski scored off a beautiful corner play at the start of the 4th quarter to put Deerfield up 3-1. NMH called a timeout with seven minutes remaining in the game and Deerfield used that to make some important adjustments to our defensive press. After the timeout, Kate MacKenzie ‘24 came up with a huge defensive block and sent a quick pass up field to Piekarski who sped past the defenders for a stunning breakaway goal – her 4th and final tally on the day. Lilly Oliver ‘26 was instrumental in our offense and Lauren Loh ’24 rounded out the scoring off an assist from Mackenzie to help the Big Green finish a strong 5-2 win. Ella Davies ’24 and Ilsa Borgen ’26 played well defensively. Next up: DA takes on SPS at home.
