On a cool, overcast first day of October, the JV Field Hockey team traveled to Exeter and pulled in a third win. The new configuration—four forwards instead of three, two middies instead of three—translated into a more forceful and coordinated attack. We scored our first goal at ten minutes in, a shot from forward Casey Kittredge ‘25 to forward Lila King ‘24 who tipped it in. The second goal, a beautiful shot from the top of the circle by middie Emily Bruno ‘25, came at the end of the first half. The third goal, with 25 seconds left in the game, was a super sharp deflection off the goalie, again thanks to Lila King on left post. Great play on the right side from forward Sophie Simonds ‘26, and in the circle from forward Campbell Ardrey ‘26 kept up the offensive pressure, while all game long middie Charlotte Steffensen ‘25 helped control the midfield. Deerfield dominated in both halves of the game, virtually shutting down Exeter’s offense: backs Brady Wierl ‘26, Lalwani Surpitski ‘26 and Jo Cramer ‘24 didn’t let much get past them. All in all, a great team win, and it’s on to NMH this Wednesday.
