Deerfield’s JV Field Hockey team beat Pomfret 9-0 in our game this past dreary Wednesday. We are most excited to celebrate the handful of novice players who scored their first goals or had their first assists. This list includes two goals by Maggie Molson ‘25, the first assisted by Lalwani Surpitski ‘26 and the second on a stroke, three goals by Jade Zimmerman ‘25, the first also assisted by Surpitski, the second on a one-on-one with the goalie, and the third off of a pass from Ellora Devitre ‘26. This was Devitre’s first assist. Jade also had her first assist on a goal scored by Captain Lila King ‘24. King also had a second goal that came from Melody Zhao’s ‘26 first assist. Other goals came from Avery Zakowich ‘25 on a stroke and Melinda Aznar Klein ‘25 assisted by Zakowich. Our defense, Josephine Cramer ‘24, Sophie Petronzio ‘25, Edie Huffard ‘25, Penley Day ‘25, Brady Wierl ‘26, Gia Thompson ‘26, Rose Manning ‘26, and Chloe Xue ‘25, played a team game, starting the momentum for a number of our goals. We’ll be away against Andover this Saturday.
