Saturday Jan 22 We traveled to Andover on Saturday with the Varsity team to play in our third road game in a row. Yesterday also began a tough stretch of games where we’ll play 4 games in 8 days, all on the road. We started off today’s game well, playing as a team on defense and pushing the ball up the floor well in transition. The game was even for most of the first quarter, and we led by one at the initial break at 13 – 12. The second quarter was not as kind as we struggled to score and started to play less consistently. We came back from being down by ten to get within four but Andover scored at the very end of the half to go into the split with a 24 – 18 lead. This was to be as close as we were to get for the rest of the day. The third and fourth quarters were all Andover. We seemed to lose focus as a team and couldn’t seem to do much positive. The score ended 44-62. Andover’s #5 scored 23 on the day and while he has definite quality, we know we can do better as a team. Our highlights came from Ford Holmén ‘22 returning to the floor for the first time in January, and Moises Castillo ‘23 also playing for the first time this year and scoring 12 points including three 3-pointers in the second half. Max Peh ‘24 led our scoring with 13 (all in the second half) and Gabe Zaccheo ‘22 really propelled us in the first half scoring 9 with some decisive drives and strong overall play. We travel to Loomis on Wednesday and need to be at our best to have a hope of avenging our season-opening loss.
