The Boys JV hockey team took to the ice on Friday night against neighboring Northfield Mount Hermon school. It was nice to play a game in between the two cancellations of an originally scheduled three-game week. The game started off slowly with both teams getting used to the tempo. Felix Rockefeller would score two goals in the first period and with 29 seconds left in the period NMH would score their lone goal of the day making the score 2-1 after one period.
The second period was a quiet one with both teams still trying to find their speed. It would be Deerfield scoring two more times while goalie Will Scharfenberger was sharp between the pipes leading his team to a 4-1 lead after two periods. Alex Sotirhos scored a goal streaking down the wing and firing a shot that found its way to the back of the net. Minutes later Alex would set Evan Galli up with a nice pass from behind the net and Evan would stuff it home.
The third period was all Deerfield as we started to play our team game more consistently. Alex Sotirhos would score again along with Will Lodge and Landon Wayne. George Darling and Ben Gisonni would be the blueline anchors today. Joining them on the blueline were Joe Morsman, Carson Belaire, and Alistair Hunt. The team is looking forward to facing a strong Cardigan team on Wednesday.
