Deerfield lost the 2021 home opener in a marathon 12 inning game against Philips Andover by a score of 3-2. The pitching and defense by both teams was outstanding. Deerfield did not commit an error in the game and Andover only committed one. Deerfield SP Tommy Leimkuhler went 7 innings and allowed 4 hits, 1 ER, 4 K’s and only 1 BB. RP Tyler Mudd came in and threw 5 innings and struck out 7 batters. Both pitchers were excellent. At the plate, SS Ryan McHugh went 3-6 and C Trey Borque had his second consecutive multi hit game going 2-5 with 1 RBI. LF Tynan Creagh had the game tying RBI with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning with a single to right field keep the game alive.
