The boys JV hockey team finally got to play their first game of the season on Saturday against arch-rival Choate. With two games cancelled the previous week the team was eager to compete.
The game was your “typical early season” contest with inconsistencies across the board. However, the home team possessed more fire-power than their opponent and skated away with a 14-5 win to start the season. There were multiple names that made the score sheet in this game, but Felix Rockefeller led all scorers with 5 goals while his line mate Ryan Bullock dished out multiple assists and made things happen all afternoon in the offensive zone for Big Green. Will Scharfenberger was in the net for Deerfield and his confidence and play improved as the game wore on.
The team will face a strong Winchendon team this Wednesday at 3:30 before heading off campus for the winter break.
