On November 3rd, the boys junior B soccer team made the long road trip on foot to the north end of Old Main Street to visit the Bement School for a 3 pm match. The team was looking to avenge their season-opening loss to Bement, which ended in a 6-1 loss. Despite playing much better and getting 25 saves from keeper Joe Berman ’25, the match ended with yet another one-goal loss, 1-0. With the loss, the team’s record now stands at 2-5-1 on the season, with two matches remaining. The 1st half was an exciting 35 minutes of soccer, with both teams having numerous chances, but solid keeper play kept the match scoreless at the half. Nikhil Lebaka ’24 nearly gave the visitors a lead, but his long-range effort hit the underside of the crossbar and bounced back to the keeper. In the 16th minute of the 2nd half, Bement scored on a nearly-identical shot that just barely squeezed underneath the crossbar and into the back of the net. With 20 minutes of the match remaining, Deerfield pushed forward and created several chances, but to no avail. The boys junior B soccer team will return to the pitch on Saturday, November 6th, with a 2:30 pm match on the lower fields against Vermont Academy’s JV team.
