Deerfield notched its tenth win of the season with a commanding performance against Avon down in Connecticut on a chilly Wednesday afternoon. Striker Winston Cho ’24, the team’s leading scorer, tallied a hat trick. Junior Jack Willett, playing at each of the wing positions, added two more goals. Center-back Jake Rohan ’24 got the scoring started with a header off a corner kick, and striker Alex Rolfe ’24 sealed the double-digit win with a goalie box shot assisted by James Kurto ’25, who scored his own goal from the attacking mid position nine minutes into the first half. Ninth-grader MacGregor Hynds had a standout game, moving up from the midfielder as the team was short at the forward position. Two minutes into the second half he beat three defenders into the 18’ and hit a powerful shot that ricocheted off the left post into the right corner. The game also showcased the skills of attacking midfielder Cai Harrison ’25, who hustled nonstop and distributed the balls up the field with intelligence and power. The team looks ahead to a big challenge this weekend, as they welcome Williston’s JV team on Saturday afternoon.
