Deerfield beat Choate for the 2nd straight year by a score of 50-26. Deerfield scored the first touchdown of the game and never looked back. QB Liam O’Brien and WR Alex Haight combined for 170 yards and 4 TDs. The play of the game came at the end of the 2nd quarter with Deerfield up 17-14. On 1st down O’Brien threw one down the home sideline to Haight who grabbed it at the front corner of the endzone and dragged one foot in bounds for a 39 yard touchdown to put Deerfield up 24-14. On the ensuing Choate possession CB Ty Curran intercepted a Choate pass and took it back 38 yards for a touchdown which put Deerfield up 31-14 at the half. Deerfield got the ball to start the 2nd half and on the first play O’Brien found Haight for a 60 yard touchdown that gave Deerfield a 24 point lead. SS Nick Peltekian added a 56 yard interception return in the 4th quarter to make the score 50-20 with 8 minutes left in the game. Deerfield finished the regular season 8-1 and will play in the Mike Silipo Bowl for the 2nd consecutive year against Brunswick in Greenwich, CT 1pm Saturday, November 20th.
