On a chilly Saturday evening at St. Paul’s, the girls varsity soccer team was ready for their first and only game under the lights this season. After a great week of practice on the turf we were ready for a game with a lot of pace. Despite a strong start, DA conceded a goal after a couple of quick passes from St. Paul’s created an opportunity for their striker to find space alone on goal that she niftily tucked into the bottom left corner. Fifteen minutes later, St. Paul’s found their second goal of the game on a PK.
Despite going into the half down 2-0, the girls felt good about the effort they put forth and came back even stronger in the second half. For the majority of the remaining 40 minutes, DA controlled the flow of play and spent a good amount of time in the attacking third of the field. After a couple of great saves from the St. Paul’s keeper and a crossbar, Kaelin Creagh ’24 found the back of the net after working her way past three St. Paul’s defenders. For the final ten minutes of play DA pushed forward in search of the game tying goal but a strong defensive effort from St. Paul’s allowed the home team to walk away with a 2-1 win.
