Deerfield traveled to Westminster for a rematch from our first game of the season. It was very cold and windy, but despite unfavorable conditions the team brought great energy. The first half saw a lot of Westminster ball possession but an even shot count. Alex Gold ‘23 scored a beautiful shot on an outside cross, but Westminster fought back and evened up the score in the final two minutes.
The second half dipped in energy for a bit as Westminster put two away and the cold settled in, but Deerfield fought back. With five minutes to go, Annabelle Brennan ’23 had a nice shot that Marnie Todd ‘23 tapped in for the rebound. The martlets, however, shut down the Deerfield comeback by scoring a fourth goal in the final minute of play. Deerfield had some strong moments, and our defensive core did a great job of shutting down many of the Westminster opportunities.
