The Deerfield Boys Thirds Soccer team achieved yet another victory against Wilbraham and Monson on Saturday afternoon. Under a cloudy sky, Deerfield stepped up to the plate and did not let Wilbraham enjoy its home-field advantage. After 15 minutes of play that kept the ball firmly on the offense, Jake Rohan ’24 was called to deliver a free kick, and he delivered an astounding one that sailed beautifully over Wilbraham’s players and curved left as it crashed into the net. Then, in the last ten minutes, Winston Cho ’24 weaved through Wilbraham’s defense to score a powerful shot, aided by an assist from Jack Willett ’23. While Deerfield’s defense was stretched thin due to injuries and absences, the defense players held off Wilbraham with skill, and MacGregor Hynds ’25 stepped into defense and played valiantly. Deerfield’s team could not have won without excellent and consistent saves from Jack Chorske ’22, including a memorable diving save on a penalty kick at the end of the first half.
